Dose

4mg initial dose, then 2mg after each loose stool. Max 8mg/day OTC, max 2 days of self-treatment.

What to watch for

  • Bloody diarrhea
  • Fever with diarrhea
  • Suspected c diff
  • Child under 6

Not recommended in pregnancy — check with a pharmacist or your clinician first.

Not for children under 6.
